About
I’m part ICT Support, part VLE Support and part postgraduate student.
I currently work at Canon Slade School which is a very successful, over subscribed state school in Bolton, England
I started this blog / site as a catch all place where I could talk about all things related to ICT in secondary schools but generally from a tech perspective – in other words the kit that’s used to prepare and deliver lessons (and the really techie bits that keep the network running).
I’m due to start and I have to say, I’m rather excited about, my MA in Digital Technologies, Communication and Education at the University of Manchester, in September.
This coincides nicely with my gradual move of roles within my school from an out and out techie into a more curriculum focussed role – my first task(s) being management of our VLE and development of resources.
My areas of interest are the use of emerging technologies in secondary education, social networking / peer learning, m-learning and ICT management in secondary education. Outside of education I’m also interested in User Interaction, Information Architecture, Web Development, Digital Philosophy and, my latest interest, digital photography.
I’m also passionate about ICT innovation - to put it simply I want to make ICT exciting in my school!
Here are Fifteen things that roughly sum me up
Five Things I Like:
My Toshiba laptop
Polite people
Donkeys
Autumn
Guitars
Five Things I Don’t Like:
Rude people
Spiders
Schmoozers
Brandy
Cars
Five Things to Do Before I Die:
See the Northern Lights
Spend New Year in a Scottish castle
Play guitar in a blues club jam session
Visit New York
Write a book
Away from the ICT world I’m an ardent Arsenal fan, a player and collector of guitars, a pretty useful pool player, a huge fan of Stevie Ray Vaughan and a general all round bon vivant!
